What an amazing day we had on Monday celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Some of us dressed up as Kings and Queen’s or just wore nice outfits instead of our school uniform. We decorated the outdoor shed and set up a lovely picnic area ready for our party in the afternoon. In the morning we looked at some of the special celebrations that had been happening over the weekend, decorated our crowns for the party and had a parade around school. During our parade we had a hunt for special pictures that all related to the Queen, including a crown and a Corgi dog. In the afternoon the whole school met outside in the adventure playground and we had a huge party with a band, music, dancing, lots of food and a ceremony where we planted a tree to remember the special occasion.
What a fabulous time we had on Wednesday afternoon helping Harry celebrate his 6th birthday. He had a great party with lots of lovely food sent in from home and party bags for all of Harry’s friends. We played ‘Pass the Parcel’ and danced the afternoon away.
In class this week we have been celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee by making lots of decorations. Using paper and paint we made paper chains, bunting and wreaths to decorate the classroom, obviously using the colours red, white and blue! On Friday afternoon we had a Tea party with lots of yummy treats.
What a fabulous and very busy week we have had. We hope you all have a wonderful holiday and remember our first day back the whole school is having a Jubilee Party. The children are welcome to get dressed up as Kings and Queens, wear red, white and blue or just come in non uniform.
Happy Holidays.
We thought you would like to see how well we have been doing in our Rebound Therapy sessions and just how much we have moved along in our skills. We are all working within the Rebound Therapy Assessment and some of us have already received certificates. We are also using these sessions to help with our communication skills, requesting ‘more’ and being able to stop when asked.
We have had another very busy week in Class! We have been working hard on our physical skills as always! We love getting on the trampoline, having our daily massage and stretches, tummy time and even standing!
We have been exploring our new sensory story ‘Walking through the jungle’. The classroom was transformed into a noisy jungle with lots of different animals and smells! Our favourite in class was the noisy elephant and the slimy snake!
We also worked so hard on our communication during Intensive Interaction. Intensive interaction is an approach which promotes communication, such as eye contact, facial expressions, sharing attention and building strong and trusting relationships!
Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Wow just look at how amazing we now are with our football skills. Graham, our football coach, has been with us for 3 weeks and will be helping us right up until the summer holidays. He has been helping to teach us how to throw, bounce, catch and kick balls. He has also been showing us some special tricks to practice. At the beginning we found it hard to listen as we really just wanted to run around with the ball but now we can listen to instructions and try putting them into practice. What a wonderful time we are having and would like to say a huge thank you to Graham for his support.
What a fabulous time we had last Thursday on our trip out to Horsley Woods and Park. We started the day off with a lovely long walk through the woods, exploring the nature and natural items along the way. We found some bird feathers, stopped to look at flowers, checked out the insects in the bark chippings, played with sticks and splashed through some big muddy puddles. It was a good job we all had waterproofs and wellies on! After our lunch we went to the park and were lucky enough to have the whole place to ourselves. We played on swings, slides, roundabouts and just look at how adventurous some of us became. After all that fun we were rather tired and headed back to school for a drink and snack before home time.
On Tuesday our classroom was transformed into a jungle for our new topic. During our sensory story we explored lots of different animals; we especially loved the green jelly for the slimy snake, the hanging spider web in the trees and we could even smell a campfire burning!
We have loved getting messy during art, we chose our own colours by eye pointing, got messy with the paint and created beautiful butterflies, look out for our wonderful creations!
As always we have worked so hard on our physical skills this week especially during our Rebound therapy sessions. Rebound therapy helps us with our balance and sitting skills, increases or decreases our muscle tone, promotes relaxation and even supports with our communication. We are all amazing at asking for ‘more’ on the trampoline.

This half term our new topic will be ‘Natural Things’. To start off our topic we have been exploring the outdoor areas around school and looking for lots of different natural objects. We have been looking for things with different textures, shapes, sizes, colours that we can feel, smell and also things that we can use to create some art pieces. It’s great fun being outdoors and our collecting is coming along nicely.
Also this week the children have had great fun exploring the new hospital which we had set up in the classroom. It has lots of pretend equipment, dressing up clothes and even a reception waiting area with magazines and book to read. We are hoping that this experience will help some of our children who find hospital visits a bit tricky to deal with.
Welcome back after our Easter Half Term! We have had a fantastic week back in class!
We had an extra special treat this week with a visit to the Fun Fair! We absolutely loved getting on all the rides, lifting our arms to go faster and using our voices to stop! We loved looking at all the flashing lights and watching our friends on all the rides!
What an amazing treat to welcome us back to school this summer term!
Well what a fun afternoon we had on Thursday when our parents came into class to help us with some Easter celebrations. We had some Easter songs and dancing around the Smartboard before we ventured outside for our Easter egg hunt. We all had a pair of bunny ears and a basket to help with our hunt. When we were finished outside we came back to the classroom for a special Easter snack with cakes and scones which we had made in the morning. It really was a lovely afternoon and was great to see so many parents who were able to attend. Thank you for your kind support and we hope you all have a wonderful Easter.
