Active week for Reception/Year 1

26th November 2021June Ball

This week has been so active for our children, we’ve been in the Hydro Pool for the first in a while. Each and every child really enjoyed it. We thought a few might be quite nervous but they were all a delight, many more weeks to look forward to and build more confidence. Lots more Rebound was enjoyed as well!

Children in Need

19th November 2021June Ball

What a wonderful week we had doing lots of fun activities for Children in Need. We used our fingers and hands to make Pudsey masks, baked and decorated cakes using smarties for the dots and went on a spot hunt around school. Lots of us got dressed up and donated money or bought merchandise to help to towards Children in Need.

Helllo!

We have had so much fun exploring our new ‘Space’ topic in class! We have had space themed exploration sessions, we have listened to ‘The Planets’ in music and various other space themed nursery rhymes and songs in circle time! We have enjoyed space themed story time and we particularly loved dressing up as space boys and girls! Hope you enjoy our photos!

Our Yurt Day and SPACE!

12th November 2021June Ball

This week we had our first outing to the Yurt. This is a type of tent which is in the outdoor space. It’s a fabulous outside classroom with it’s own log burner. We showed the children how to make a fire and soon we had a very toasty warm Yurt. Whilst we were cooking scrambled eggs we enjoyed joining in with favourite songs. We then had scrambled eggs and toast which was delicious. After our snack we explored the wooded area with the big trees and the old boat. The children loved running around. climbing and rowing in the boat. For the last part of our morning we worked on our counting skills using the lycra, monkeys and elephants. We all worked together and had a great session. We  recorded it for Maths Week and next Friday in Assembly we will watch all of the classes’ videos around Maths skills.

We hope yo have a good weekend.

Diwali

5th November 2021June Ball

This half term we are going to be exploring the topic of ‘Space’. During our topic we will be looking at light and dark and building rockets in our sensory/art sessions. We will also be reading the book ‘Whatever Next’ by Jill Murphy. You tube has some good links if you want to listen to the story at home with your child.

We will be starting to use the Hydro pool again from next week and we are all very excited about this. Our sessions will be lead through the Halliwick Concept. The Halliwick Concept is an approach to teaching all children, in particular, focusing on those with physical and/or learning difficulties, to participate in water activities and to move independently in water.

This week we have had great fun learning all about Diwali. We decorated our classroom with lots of lights of all different colours, got dressed up to do some dancing, made coloured Diwali pancakes and explored with light and dark during our sensory song fun.s

We hope you have a good weekend.

Halloween Fun

22nd October 2021June Ball

We have been learning so much through the theme of Halloween. We have been counting during our favourite Halloween songs. We loved “Five Little Ghosts” to the tune of “Five Little Ducks” and also “Five Pumpkins” This song is great for exploring different emotions too.

We have explored lots of sensory materials and for some of our children this is quite a challenge. It has also supported our communication and interaction.

We’ve had two parties this week, one for Halloween and one for Jamie’s Birthday so lots of eating! It was great to see the children dressed up today and we finished the week with a Halloween themed Jabadao session in the School Hall.

Phew! I think we all need a rest. We hope you have a good week off and we look forward to seeing the children back on November 1st.

Take care. X

A Spooky Spectacular week!

22nd October 2021Nadia Motie

We have had a fantastic week in class! We have loved getting involved with the competitions held throughout school this week.

We especially loved getting messy during art to design our own pumpkins!

We have continued with our autumn sensory exploration this week and particularly enjoyed the autumn leaves falling on our faces and listening to the ‘rain’ hitting our umbrellas!

We have also been working very hard on our physical skills in class, we have used our standers, walking frames, supported sitting with an adult and independent exploration throughout the day. We have also enjoyed some relaxing times too; massage, spa afternoons and relaxing in our new class hammock!

We have worked so hard this week, we have finished our first half term with a spooky sensory spa and a class party!

Hope you all have a lovely half term holiday and we look forward to seeing you all back on Monday 1st November!

Harvest around The World!

21st October 2021Nadia Motie

We all celebrated Harvest Festival at Hadrian School. Each class chose a different country to celebrate and learn about. We chose to explore Indonesia. We have been doing Indonesian themed activities to celebrate! We loved exploring the rice, relaxing during an Indonesian spa whilst listening to traditional Indonesian Music. Children from each class made a different dish from around the world and presented it in assembly. We had great fun making traditional Klepon cakes made with rice flour and we made a lovely video to share with our friends in school assembly! Check out our class video here!

Mellow Yellow!

11th October 2021June Ball

On Friday we celebrated Hello Yellow which we renamed, Mellow Yellow! (by accident)

However, it was a Mellow Yellow day as it turned out. We were so chilled in Assembly in the morning which was great to see. Gabriela got her Weekly Achiever’s Certificate and we all shared the chocolate buttons. Before lunch we continued with our Body Awareness Programme where we all come together on bean bags and explore different body parts in a relaxed and calm environment.

In the afternoon we decided to go outside and explore different areas as the weather was so good. Our new children loved exploring the Flow Area and managed to find the furthest away places! We also spent some time on the Trim Trail. What a fabulous day!w

We also had a great week preparing for the Harvest Festival Around The World. We explored Slovakia  and made a gorgeous cake from Slovakia called a Blueberry Bublanina cake. We also listened and danced along to a lovely Slovak song all about collecting fruit. We presented it in the Assembly. it didn’t win but that didn’t matter. We tasted it the next day with mixed reactions. (William loved it though)

We’re sure to have another great week next week.

June, Babs and the Team.
