Our Yurt Day and SPACE!

12th November 2021June Ball

This week we had our first outing to the Yurt. This is a type of tent which is in the outdoor space. It’s a fabulous outside classroom with it’s own log burner. We showed the children how to make a fire and soon we had a very toasty warm Yurt. Whilst we were cooking scrambled eggs we enjoyed joining in with favourite songs. We then had scrambled eggs and toast which was delicious. After our snack we explored the wooded area with the big trees and the old boat. The children loved running around. climbing and rowing in the boat. For the last part of our morning we worked on our counting skills using the lycra, monkeys and elephants. We all worked together and had a great session. We  recorded it for Maths Week and next Friday in Assembly we will watch all of the classes’ videos around Maths skills.

We hope yo have a good weekend.

Diwali

5th November 2021June Ball

This half term we are going to be exploring the topic of ‘Space’. During our topic we will be looking at light and dark and building rockets in our sensory/art sessions. We will also be reading the book ‘Whatever Next’ by Jill Murphy. You tube has some good links if you want to listen to the story at home with your child.

We will be starting to use the Hydro pool again from next week and we are all very excited about this. Our sessions will be lead through the Halliwick Concept. The Halliwick Concept is an approach to teaching all children, in particular, focusing on those with physical and/or learning difficulties, to participate in water activities and to move independently in water.

This week we have had great fun learning all about Diwali. We decorated our classroom with lots of lights of all different colours, got dressed up to do some dancing, made coloured Diwali pancakes and explored with light and dark during our sensory song fun.s

We hope you have a good weekend.

Halloween Fun

22nd October 2021June Ball

We have been learning so much through the theme of Halloween. We have been counting during our favourite Halloween songs. We loved “Five Little Ghosts” to the tune of “Five Little Ducks” and also “Five Pumpkins” This song is great for exploring different emotions too.

We have explored lots of sensory materials and for some of our children this is quite a challenge. It has also supported our communication and interaction.

We’ve had two parties this week, one for Halloween and one for Jamie’s Birthday so lots of eating! It was great to see the children dressed up today and we finished the week with a Halloween themed Jabadao session in the School Hall.

Phew! I think we all need a rest. We hope you have a good week off and we look forward to seeing the children back on November 1st.

Take care. X

Mellow Yellow!

11th October 2021June Ball

On Friday we celebrated Hello Yellow which we renamed, Mellow Yellow! (by accident)

However, it was a Mellow Yellow day as it turned out. We were so chilled in Assembly in the morning which was great to see. Gabriela got her Weekly Achiever’s Certificate and we all shared the chocolate buttons. Before lunch we continued with our Body Awareness Programme where we all come together on bean bags and explore different body parts in a relaxed and calm environment.

In the afternoon we decided to go outside and explore different areas as the weather was so good. Our new children loved exploring the Flow Area and managed to find the furthest away places! We also spent some time on the Trim Trail. What a fabulous day!w

We also had a great week preparing for the Harvest Festival Around The World. We explored Slovakia  and made a gorgeous cake from Slovakia called a Blueberry Bublanina cake. We also listened and danced along to a lovely Slovak song all about collecting fruit. We presented it in the Assembly. it didn’t win but that didn’t matter. We tasted it the next day with mixed reactions. (William loved it though)

We’re sure to have another great week next week.

June, Babs and the Team.

Another Busy Week!

1st October 2021June Ball

What a great week we have had. As part of our work on “It’s Good to be Me!”  we are finding out about what our children like and don’t like. We did some wonderful foot printing and washed off in hot water tubs!

We are becoming more adventurous in Jabadao. We got out the climbing apparatus which the children began to explore. This week they may want to explore it further. There were some lovely interactions too.

We have been working on our Recycling Project. We used boxes and paint and then used the finished project in different ways outside. x

We are going to have a display in school of all of the different projects.

Fun, Fun, Fun.

24th September 2021June Ball

Well what a busy but very exciting week we have had!

We did some fantastic moving and dancing during our P.E lesson and introduced the rebound centre to some of our new friends to have some time on the trampolines. Of course we had to made the most of the beautiful sunshine and had lots of fun while doing outdoor learning. We were also lucky enough to have an amazing outdoor music concert this week which everyone really enjoyed and you should have seen the dance moves the children showed us – they were fabulous.

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend and will see the children on Monday.

Welcome to Our Class Blog

18th September 2021June Ball

Hello and welcome to our first Class Blog. It’s so good to be back and to welcome new children to Hadrian School. We’ve had a great few days back, settling in and making new friends. We are busy finalising the Timetable and will send it out to you very soon. However, we’ve wasted no time in getting stuck in and already have had Jabadao, Rebound, PE, Art, Sensory Play, Communication/letters and Sounds groups, Maths/Early Numeracy group, Food Technology and loads of other things too. We are concentrating on building relationships with each other and also finding out about what the children like, (and don’t like!) to do.

Our Project this Half Term is “It’s Good to be Me!” so we would love you to send in photographs of your child at home with family members and doing things they like to do at home. You can send them in on the Class Dojo or by  email.

Here are some photographs from the last week and a half.

Oops we’re having difficulties getting the photographs in. As soon as we can, we’ll get them on. You can also head over to our Class Dojo where you’ll find photos on our Class Story.

Life is Good in Our Class!

17th July 2021June Ball

It was so good to be back in school after our 10 days isolation. We know not everyone could be back with us and we were thinking of those at home. We did Zoom our Circle times so our children at home could join us.

We decided this week to do lots of activities to help us to feel good about the world. We had water play on Wednesday, The Hydro Pool on Thursday and a wonderful pamper Afternoon on Friday. We also celebrated how well our children have coped with the changes at assembly on Friday morning. Everyone got a certificate and some bubbles. Well done to Sophia too who got a certificate and medal for all of the sports she did at home during Sports Week.

We can’t believe it’s our last week next week! We’re going to have a sporty week with our own mini Olympics.

Take care everyone.

Year 3 Team. X

“Marhaba” from The United Arab Emirates!

3rd July 2021June Ball

We are very excited to be representing The United Arab Emirates next week during Sports Week. We chose this country as it was the first country we visited for our “Holidays” theme according to Mason! We are so excited to all be wearing a T shirt with the flag of the UAE on it. A shout out to Paula in Dave’s class for kindly printing them for us.

We have begun to learn all about the country and what a fascinating country it is, especially Dubai with its amazing buildings, Palm Island and beautiful beaches. We have listened to the National Anthem, made flags, listened to some children’s songs in Arabic and explored Belly Dancing. We have so much more planned for next week and that’s not including all of the wonderful sports activities planned. We will be getting involved in Cricket, Dodgeball, Paralympics, Table Top Sports, Welly Wanging, Wheelchair Races, Bikes and Orienteering. Wow! What a week it will be.

We also said a sad “Goodbye” to our Snails which we have been looking after for a couple of weeks. We have learnt so much about them and they have enjoyed staying in our Snail Hotel so much so that three of them have had babies! We set them all free in the Caterpillar garden and we were delighted that every child in the class felt confident and happy to pick one up and let it go. We will check on the babies from time to time.

And finally, a little peek at our new Holiday Display in the making. It’s fabulous!

Another brilliant week. We look forward to sharing next week with you.

Babs, June and the Team.

All Kinds of Everything!

19th June 2021June Ball

What a great week we’ve had getting involved in lots of different activities including plenty of outdoor learning opportunities.

We had a super day in the Yurt on Monday. Sue expertly showed us how to make a fire.( not a firelighter in sight!) After she’d built a roaring fire we made scrambled eggs on top of the wood burner which we ate with toast. Delicious!

After our snack we made lots of footprints in the paint with wellies. We needed these for our special treasure hunt in the afternoon. As well as it being great fun, it was also part of our work on “Measures” in Maths.

In the afternoon we used the footprints to lead us to treasure! We hope the dads/special people/heros in our children’s lives enjoyed the beautiful rocks we sent home.

We continue to learn about plants. The children are becoming familiar with what plants need to survive. One group worked on the plant labels and another group learnt more about the Brussel sprouts that we planted. They are growing so well but unfortunately something is eating them! We tried to guess what it might be including squirrels, slugs, snails but we think it might be caterpillars.

We’ve been celebrating lots of Birthdays this month which we’ve put on Class Dojo for you to enjoy. We also celebrated Leni’s Half Term Achiever on Friday. Very well done Leni. We are all so proud of you.

Babs, June and the Team.
