What a busy week we’ve had! Along with lots of hard work and great concentration from the children, we’ve had lots of fun activities and even a party!

In science this week we continued with our topic, space. We were learning all about planet Earth, deciding what temperature counties were based on their proximity to the equator. We had some great ideas and children showed good understanding, explaining how the counties close to the line were hot and the ones further away were cold.

Linking our topic to our English, we used what we had learnt in our science lesson to create fact files. We have been working on the differences between fiction and non-fiction books. While looking through books, the children could tell us that fiction books tell a story that’s not real, whereas non-fiction are full of facts and real information. In math’s we have focused on telling the time. The children managed to explain how they knew it was o’clock and half past, with some children working on quarter past and quarter too.

We were able to have our first swimming session of the year. Since we haven’t managed to visit Sir Charles Parsons’ pool in a while, we had a free session with the pool toys and floaties which everyone loved!

In our new PE sessions with Graeme, we learnt to duck, dive, and dodge the ball, followed by our kangaroo club session after lunch. Everyone worked up a real sweat. We finished off our day learning all about safer strangers, identifying who we can reach out to for help when there’s no familiar adults around.

Friday has been a great day for everyone! We started with assembly and circle time. We had football after lunch, followed by our favourite time of the week – choice time. This choice time was extra special as we celebrated Kaleb’s birthday and enjoyed his birthday cake as a treat. Our Rosie got a certificate for her enthusiasm in PSHE. We hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

See you next week!
