Tuesday this week was Chinese New Year! The children have spent the week celebrating with lots of Chinese crafts, music and food! They attended our wonderful annual Chinese New Year Assembly in the Sports Hall with songs and food! In class this week the children have been learning the story of Nian and painting lovely Chinese Dragon pictures, Grace your Dragon was soooooooo neat and you concentrated so well.

The children have also made pretty Chinese lanterns and tube Dragons that breathe fire! They have learned to sing the songs ‘Gong Hei Fat Choi’ and ‘Xin Nian Hao’. Of course Chinese New Year wouldn’t be complete without trying some Chinese Food so the children did some Chinese food tasting and recorded whether or not they liked the Fried Rice, Spicy Noodles, Spring Rolls, Prawn Crackers and Fortune Cookies. We think you can judge for yourself from the pictures whether or not the items were a success. Especially Leni’s face when she tasted the Spring Roll!

With all the Chinese New Year Fun this week we have had to squeeeeeeeeeeze in a little bit on our topic of Inventors and Inventions. This week the children continued their learning on the invention of the telephone. They learned about Alexander Graham Bell and explored string telephones and more vibrations. We are thoroughly enjoying learning about inventions in our class, it’s so interesting!

Have a lovely weekend!
