Week 3 weekly news

24th September 2021Elaine Quinn

Hello everyone and happy Friday!

This week we went the Sir Charles Parsons and kicked off our weekly swimming lessons. It was great fun! We focused on getting used to the pool again, walking from one side to the other and we managed to put our heads under the water. Once we had done all our hard work, we then got loads of toys out and had a great play in the pool. We cannot wait to go back again next week and learn some new skills.

This week in English we have started a new book called ‘The tell me tree’. We have been talking about how we are feeling and even went outside to find our own tree to talk to about how we are feeling.

On Tuesday Katy, from Fun little foodies, joined us again. This week we yet again listened carefully to Katy’s instructions and we made our own blackberry Flapjack. This then linked in very nicely with Wednesday’s lesson. We found out where our food comes from. We knew that eggs come from chickens, chips come from potatoes and we even learnt that bread is made from wheat. Once we had done our matching activity, we then went out for a walk around the school and picked some apples and blackberries of our own.

Unfortunately, this week we were unable to go Horse riding, however we still had a great afternoon! Instead we had a relaxing movie afternoon and had some sweet treats.

We cannot wait for another fun filled week at school next week and we hope you have an amazing weekend!

Weekly news!

17th September 2021Elaine Quinn

Wow what a fantastic week in class, the children have amazed us with their focus and the  great work they have produced.

We have worked on recognising numerals, ordering numbers and counting amounts. We have also been practicing using tens frames, some of us have even been counting all the way to twenty!

We began our new story ‘the dot’, which is a lovely story of a little girl who is feeling sad and frustrated that she just can’t paint or draw. Until her teacher encourages her to make a mark on the paper and this begins her journey into discovering that she can make beautiful art with just DOTS. This taught us that you can do anything that you set your mind to. It is about having confidence to believe in yourself and encouraging and nurturing others.

As well as painting lots of dots for our new display, we have talked lots about our emotions and what things might make us feel happy, sad or angry.

This week we were very lucky to have Katy from ‘Fun Little Foodies’ to help with our food tech session. She will be working with us for the next few weeks, how exciting ! This week the children made quiche independently and have learnt that eggs come from chickens. They cracked eggs, cut veg and whisked eggs all by themselves. They then all had a try of their creations! Yum yum yum!! Katy also added a bit of arts and craft and the children  made their own chicken collages.

We had another successful trip out horse-riding, the weather was so nice we had a trek around the grounds at Pegasus stables and even stepped over jumps! Amazing for week two.

Then a nice snack in the sun before we headed back to school.

Have a great weekend, stay safe.

Dear Parents/Carers

We have had a fantastic week. We have started our football sessions with Graeme on a Monday lunchtime which the children love. Unfortunately we were unable to go swimming on Tuesday due to issues outside of our control but we are hoping we can next week I will let you know on Monday if we are going. Wednesday we had our first group music therapy session with Tom. Today we were also very lucky to go to the assembly in person and Mr Rolling’s was so impressed with the class all of the children received a medal. The school photographer will be in school Monday and on Tuesday afternoon we are excited to join a concert in school in the afternoon.

Thank you

First Week Back!

10th September 2021Rachael Budden

Everyone has settled so well back into school! We have had a fantastic week in Rachael’s class making new friends and catching up with old ones.

In Science we have learnt all about how to keep safe in the sun and what we need to keep safe. We explored items such as, caps, sun glasses, sun cream and swim suits which all keep us safe in the sun.

In English we have been writing all about what we had done in our summer holidays and it sounds like everyone had an amazing summer!

We can not wait to have lots more fun in Rachael’s class.

We have had a wonderful first few days back in school, we have spent time getting to know the new children and staff in class, we have a couple more of our friends and staff to welcome back next.

This is Becky who we are happy to be welcoming to our team this year!

We were so excited to begin horse riding this term, it seems so long since we have been out of the school building for activities or trips!

It all went very smoothly, all the children were very brave even when feeling a little unsure and they each rode a horse, fair to say all fears where replaced with a huge smile within minutes.

We will also begin weekly swimming lessons at Sir Charles Parsons on a Tuesday so please remember you child’s kit.

PE is now on a Monday we can keep kit in school if that works better.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend, take care.

We have had a wonderful week of fun! Its hard to believe the school year is almost over we have had such a fantastic time. We thought it would be nice for the children to choose their favourite things to do in school so we made a list and we are working our way through it.

Sadly some of our friends are at home isolating so we will have a catch up on zoom next week.

We had a day in the yurt where we enjoyed story yoga then had a pamper afternoon with massage, hair and nails. We have painted outdoors with brushes, rollers and spray bottles! made some impressive buildings with lego and had lots of fun playing outside enjoying the beautiful weather.

We are planning to have fun all next week too, can you send a spare set of clothes for your child as waterplay is on the list!

Have a wonderful weekend.

9th July 2021Sharon Dodd

What an active week we’ve had at school!

Despite the weather we have enjoyed activities each day – on Monday we had a Dragon Dance as our part in the Opening Ceremony ( we are representing China) and we waved our red flag with yellow stars on.

On Tuesday we laughed loads while we were ‘Welly Wanging’! we also took part in a Yoga session in the Yurt and a Jabadao obstacle course in the Sports Hall.

On Wednesday we went on an obstacle course set up in the Caterpillar Garden and later in the day we enjoyed Music and Movement – cheerleading, line dancing and Chinese dancing!

ON Thursday there were Table Top Sports to take part in, bikes and the wheelchair Races.

Friday was the Closing Ceremony – lots of dancing and activities arranged by Dance Rox.

We have had so much FUN.

There will be a video sent home via class dojo so you can see the dancing. Next week we will be taking part in sporting activities such as karate, boxing, dodge ball, yoga and so much more. We have the opening and closing ceremony to look forward to on Monday and Friday. Have a lovely weekend.
