Merry Christmas

10th December 2018Chris Rollings

Many thanks to all our friends and families who came to our Christmas Fayre on Friday evening.  It was lovely to see so many people there and to welcome lots of old friends as well as many new ones.  We hope everyone had a good time.  We raised an amazing £842, and this amount will increase once we add in the proceeds from our main raffle which is to be drawn on Wednesday 19th December.  If you don’t yet have any tickets and would like some, please contact Pauline Turner at school.

Rehearsals are now well under way for our Christmas Show on Friday morning (14th at 10.00am) and it would be lovely to see as many friends and families there as possible.  It is the first Christmas Show we have had since 2015 because of all our building works, so we’re hoping it will be one to remember!

The Autumn edition of our Hadrian Herald is at the printers as we speak so please look out for it coming home in your child’s school bag during the last week of term.

Once again I’d like to say a huge ‘Thank You’ to the staff and volunteers who help make Hadrian School tick.  The commitment and dedication they give to providing the best of everything for our children is commendable and very much appreciated.

I’d like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and peaceful New Year.

Best wishes,

Chris

Calling all explorers!

Calling all explorers!

We have had a busy week exploring the school, on Wednesday we all went for a wander in to the mud kitchen and wild life garden to see what we could find! The sun was shining and the leaves were crunchy, so we enjoyed finding our inner explorers for the afternoon.

As much fun as the mud kitchen is, we couldn’t spend all day there as our friends at school love it too! When we got in the exploring didn’t stop there. Messy Play was lots of fun and we got very, very purple. Purple powder paint, dry rice and water proved a successful way to get messy. We made sure of it!

Dear Parents/Carers

This week we have commenced our Christmas activities. We have been practicing for our Christmas show, the choir has performed at the Grainger Market and some of our children have been to the Laing Art Gallery as part of the linked in school project. On Monday we will head to the Tyneside Cinema as part of our Christmas Trip. The choir will be performing on Tuesday at the Rowlands Gill lunch club. Have a lovely weekend.

Hello, and welcome to our first blog of the year. Due to some technical issues as a result of the launch of our new website, we haven’t been able to get access, but now we are up and running and raring to go, so we hope that you enjoy our blogs and looking at what all of your wonderful children are getting up to.

Firstly, we need to give a massive thanks to all your support this year, everything from attending our coffee afternoon, sending in contributions for snacks, sending in snacks and drinks and contributions to trips. It all really helps and we appreciate it very much!

This week has been an exciting week as we have been gearing  up for our part in the Hadrian Christmas show, our own take on the song Fairy Tale of New York, but with a twist!

This week we have been getting up to lots of fun things! In literacy we have carried on with our story, Night Monkey, Day Monkey and the children have done a great job recalling information about the story, sorting the night and the day parts and doing some work on shadows.

Chris Bostock and his team of wonderful performers, musicians and story-tellers came in to tell us a story all about a wonderful snow bear! It was excellent and the children were very engaged throughout, participating, singing and laughing!

We hope you enjoy looking at the pictures, have a lovely weekend and we will see your

children bright and early on Monday morning.

Specialist trikes

6th December 2018Elaine Quinn

Lots of enquiries about specialist trikes this week !

Christmas is coming up, I have found lots of sites that can supply, but as with any specialist equipment its never usually a cheap option !

missioncycles.co.uk

allterraincycles.co.uk

tomcatuk.org

ashfieldspecialneeds.co.uk

www.altonaids.co.uk
Alton aids are based at the Team Valley and can help with measurements and have bikes to view.

There is lots of charities who help fund these but you should understand it is never a quick process and can take anywhere between 6-24 months so always be prepared.

Sunshine Fund

About The Sunshine Fund

We provide equipment to hundreds of disabled children in the North East every year.

We welcome applications from both individuals and organisations. The child/children you are applying for must fulfil the following criteria:

* Aged 18 or under

* An individual child/siblings with disabilities or an organisation that supports children with disabilities

* Not applied in the last 12 months

* Live in the following areas: Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, County Durham

Family Fund can consider a contribution towards a specialist trike or bicycle for your child.

Pass it on Parents can help with filling in application forms.

I have found a few second hand selling sites for equipment like this so its always worth a search on the internet.

Pass it on Parents now have there own selling group for Disability Aids on facebook which is easy to access and worth a look.

A Very Creative Week!

30th November 2018Elaine Quinn

Hello everyone!

We’ve had a very busy week in Class 4/5B!  We started the week with a party, because it was Hannah’s birthday!  We decided to celebrate with a birthday tea and some disco dancing!

We’ve reorganised our classroom a bit, and have borrowed a beautiful toy kitchen which we’ve enjoyed playing in.  We can do our literacy, numeracy and PSHE while we play!  We’ve had great fun!

Something we love to do in our class is tell stories.  We found a puppet theatre and had a great time putting on shows for each other.

We are also so creative and love painting.  Look at our beautiful artwork!

We also enjoyed a sensory story about a cold, dark night.  We loved touching the fur, the leather, and the feathers.

Please come to our coffee afternoon next Thursday at 1.30pm  It would be lovely to see you!

This week in 2a

30th November 2018Dave Robinson

We have had another super busy week in 2a!

On Tuesday in Science we learned about our bodies. We started by drawing around our friends bodies on some big sheets of paper and then labelled different body parts.

On Wednesday we discovered the hydropool was not working properly so had to be fixed. This meant we were able to take a quick afternoon visit to Dobbies to have a look at the Christmas decorations to get some ideas for some Christmas crafts. We were all very sensible looking around the shop.

On Thursday we had a new friend starting in our class. Eyah has settled in very well and has had a great first 2 days in 2a.

We are all loving our Thursday afternoon Rebound sessions in the Rebound Centre and work hard every week!
