Merry December!

2nd December 2022Dave Robinson

Hi everyone, we hope you’re all happy and well as we make our way into the last month of 2022!

This week has marked the start of the Christmas festivities here in Dave’s class, and haven’t we just had the best time! On Wednesday afternoon our grown-ups began pulling all sorts of funny-shaped boxes and bags out of the storage cupboard, and by Thursday morning our normal classroom had been transformed into a festive wonderland!

Also on Thursday, we had a special advent assembly in the school hall to mark the first day of December and to learn a little bit about why we do all of these Christmas celebrations anyway. We had a great time singing along to the carols that the school band played, and we loved watching some of the other children place the advent figurines inside of the display. We were also lucky enough to have been gifted an advent calendar to share as a class, and we can’t wait to all get a turn at opening a door and getting the chocolate that’s hiding behind! We’re very very thankful to the incredible person who donated these advent calendars; buying one for each class must have cost a great amount and we can’t begin to share how grateful we are.

On Thursday afternoon we had an amazing time listening to our friend Chris, a wonderful storyteller who very kindly visited Hadrian school and put on a special interactive story just for us all about trees and the woodlands. We loved getting cosy and listening to his story, and we especially loved seeing all of his magic props! Thank you so much to Chris for visiting, and for Hadrian School for organising such lovely treats for us.

We hope everyone has a lovely weekend, and gets to begin to enjoy some of the festivities that December has to offer! See you all bright and early on Monday morning for another week of fun and festive exploration! – Dave and team 🙂

26th November 2022Becky Seeber

We had a busy day in our first hair shop this term.

We had some new children in the salon this term who all really enjoyed the experience.

They were treat to manicures, pedicures, a soak in the foot spa, hand and foot massages as well as a haircut.

We also got very creative with the ‘Girls World Heads’ and each others hair which was great fun.

The next hair shop is Thursday 8th December so keep an eye out for the next booking form.

A week full of hard work and lots of fun.

25th November 2022Elaine Quinn

Monday was a very sporty start to the week, football was how we started our morning with lots of fun and games. We played a game of dodgeball to learn new catching and throwing techniques. After lunch some of our children chose to watch the first England world cup match against Iran. Later in the afternoon we put our coats on and headed to the trim trail.

On Tuesday we started our morning with lots of hard work we started with doing our reading with Becky and Sharon while some of us completed jigsaws on the carpet. After break we had our Math’s lesson which we were digging for Roman artifacts in our rice, sand, and mud boxes, we were counting the amount of each artifacts in the different boxes. On Tuesday afternoon we made chocolate brownies in food technology which we later enjoyed for our snack.

We started off our Wednesday with arts and crafts we created sensory bottles with lots of different colours, jewels, water and oil. When our bottles were all complete we went for a walk in the rain all around our school to look for Roman artifacts. Later on Wednesday afternoon we finished of our Roman wall with lots of cutting and gluing and making lots of mess. We finished off our Wednesday with a relaxing yoga lesson.

Sing school was how our Thursday morning started with all our friends from different classes. When sing school was finished we came back to class to get ready for our school pictures, getting our hair brushed and faces wiped after our breakfast. Our favorite part of our Thursday with our afternoon in the thrive room.

Friday morning was our achievers assembly celebrating our amazing friends hard work and watching all of friends videos of how much work they have been doing this half term. We had a lovely afternoon watching our first Christmas movie and having snacks. We were looking for inspiration for our Christmas show.

A sensory-stuffed week in Dave’s class!

25th November 2022Dave Robinson

Hi everyone, happy Friday! Only four more Fridays until we break up, or if you want a more exciting way of looking at it, only 30 more sleeps until Christmas!

This week we’ve spent a lot of time indoors, due to the cold, wintery weather we’ve been graced with, and so we’ve managed to fit in even more classroom based fun than usual!

Check out these photos of our happy little class enjoying some great sensory play!

Have a lovely weekend everyone, see you on Monday! – Dave and team 🙂

4 weeks until Christmas!

25th November 2022Hope Hope

On Monday morning Class 13 worked really hard on their outcomes in English and Maths. In the afternoon some of the children enjoyed watching the World Cup match while others practiced their fine motor skills with some potato peeling to make mashed potato.

Midweek we started rehearsing for our Christmas show obviously it is under wraps…. We’ve cast and got our costumes nearly ready, need to get our dance moves perfected next.

Thursday we had an Egyptian God hunt in the classroom and we had to match them with our worksheet then colour in.

Have a good weekend everyone and stay safe….

A fiery week!

11th November 2022Elaine Quinn

We started off our week with a fabulous football session with Graham which all of the children love. After football we went to our trim trail and practiced our climbing and balancing skills.

Then on Tuesday we started our remembrance day art makin poppies with tissue paper and glue. On Tuesday afternoon we headed to the kitchen to make some very tasty biscuits.

On Wednesday we had a very busy day starting off with mud kitchen making lots of muddy pies and water play. when we were all cleaned up we went to meet our friends from the west Denton fire station we all took turns sitting in the fire truck and we all used the fire hose.

Thursday morning we had a lovely maths lesson. We used our 1:1 correspondence skills to count amounts of flowers on a vase. Using this knowledge we then created flowers out of pipe cleaners and buttons to match the amount of flowers shown on our vases. After playtime we then had a lovely meditation session. This always relaxes us. Once we had our lunch we then took a trip to the thrive room, which is our favourite time of the week.

On Friday, we had our remembrance assembly. This was very emotional, however it is important for us to remember those who died in the war and our loved ones. In the afternoon we had a lovely free choice session. We played with playdoh, our new mark making board and the kitchen.

In the afternoon we continued our firework activities and made fireworks with chalk and black card. Mandy then made some fabulous rockets with everyone which we played with before we had our afternoon snack.

Travels and Rhythm

4th November 2022Marc Teasdale

Good afternoon everyone, we’ve had a fantastic (and not to mention SPOOKY) first week back here in Class 12! We started the week with Halloween itself! We were all dressed up in the most creative and scary costumes and managed to get in a spot of Trick or Treating before the our Halloween party in the afternoon! Take a look below:

We also had our very first trip to Newcastle City Centre this week! James and Jack caught the bus with our friends from Scott’s, Rachel’s and Shirley’s classes into town where they made their way to the Grainger Market Cafe for a snack and a drink. Check it out below:

We had great fun in our poetry sessions this week! We managed to write our own versions of ‘Splish Splash Splosh’ as well as use drums to create rhythm while we performed these! We all did a terrific job, take a look below:

Happy Halloween

21st October 2022Jess Burns

We have been celebrating Halloween a little early as it has tied in nicely with exploring different materials and also our class sensory story, “We’re Going on a Pumpkin Hunt”

We have explored the story using all of our senses and this week we went on a pumpkin hunt in the Caterpillar Garden. We also became mini scientists as we made an erupting pumpkin!

We have enjoyed joining in with lots of Halloween related songs on the Smart Board and tried dancing to “the Skeleton Dance”

There will be a whole school  Halloween Party on the 31st of October when we come back to school. We will dress up and enjoy Halloween type foods, songs and dance and scary stories.

We hope you have a good half term holiday and look forward to welcoming the children back on the 31st October.

Jess, Babs, Labli and Corrie.
