We really enjoy spending time together in the Sensory Integration Room and whilst we’re having fun we are also working on/developing so many different aspects.
Movement is so important and in this space, the children can explore a range of movements at their own pace. There is spinning, swinging, climbing and bouncing. It is also a wonderful opportunity to develop close relationships with each other and with the adults too. There is always lots of Intensive Interaction taking place where the adults work very closely with individual children. Of course it is also a fantastic way to develop our communication skills using speech, symbols, signing – Makaton, and the children’s own VOCA’s (Voice Output Communication Aids) During our sessions we are able to work on the children’s PLP’s (Personalised Learning Plans) in an exciting and highly motivating way. This is one of our favourite spaces and its wonderful to see the children making lovely progress.

Our favourite lesson this week was the sensory story. Using the resources we collected from our beach trip the children were able to fully immerse themselves in this terms sensory story Danny McGee drinks the sea!!
Check out the photos to see just how much fun we had!
We have worked so hard this week during all our planned sessions. This week we have enjoyed the hydro pool and sensory circuits for the first time since coming back to school! We loved the freedom of movement and using our arms and legs to splash around! We also loved sensory circuits. During this we get a chance to use hammocks, water beds, access sensory lights and focus on Intensive Interaction and body awareness, at the end of the session we all enjoyed a bounce on the trampoline with a parachute.
June’s Class
Dear Parents/Carers
Today we enjoyed a half term achievers assembly and we continued making our junk model sculptures. We will be swimming every Wednesday can we please have swimming kits. The highlight of the week has been looking for our homemade dinosaur fossils and making our U.S.A junk models out of cardboard.. Have a lovely weekend.
Thank you
Scott, Abbie, Andy, Claudia, Darryl, Helen, Lyndsey
After the long weekend we started our week off with a trip to the beach. We headed off to Whitley bay where we met the team from Beach Access North East and got to use their beach accessible buggy’s to collect resources for our sensory story. The children really enjoyed themselves and managed to stay dry which is more than we can say for some of the adults. After our beach picnic we went for a lovely walk and even popped into the skate park before setting off back to school.

Hello everyone and welcome to our new class. We have had a wonderful two weeks getting to know our lovely children. Some children were with us last year but we also welcome two new children to the Hadrian Family, Henry and Cole. The staff working with your children are Jess – the class teacher with Babs, Corrie and Labli. We are looking forward to an exciting year together where we will be providing a wide range of fantastic opportunities. These last 2 weeks we have already explored the Mud Kitchen, Sensory Integration Room, Rebound, PE, and also a new indoor and outdoor environment. Our Class Dojo is also an opportunity for you to see what we have been getting up to and obviously an opportunity for you to chat with us.
Here are a few photographs from the last two weeks.
Have a lovely weekend.
What a great first full week back at school. All our children have settled back into class and we have had a lovely time being back with our friends. Our favorite activities this week have been Rebound Therapy, our new sensory story (Danny McGee drinks the sea), and soft play. Look how much fun we have had!
