This week the children have been working hard as usual but they have also been very crafty foxes and created lots of lovely Arty pieces for various class displays. They have been working on their African sunset pictures by adding shadow animals and lots of lovely spooky crafts for our Halloween door next week!
Next week is our school Halloween week where classes will be decorating doors for a competition, dressing up and doing lots of lovely Halloween activities. If you pass our door please keep a lookout for our spooky Halloween themed video on our class TV screen.
Today our lovely Nell got the class Certificate for working hard as always. Nell is one of the fabulous children in class who puts her all into EVERYTHING she does and we are so proud of her. Well Done Nell.
Have a lovely weekend!
Dear Parents/Carers
We have had an excellent week. We were lucky to have music therapy in the Sea Shanty Shack this week with Tom and Phillipa. Shirley’s son also brought in an army vehicle for the children to look at and climb on board which they loved. We have been making a hot stone soup video for Pat our chair of governors church. I will send a link home so you can watch the video via class dojo. Have a lovely weekend.
Thank you

This week we have enjoyed more sensory experiences. We were very excited to see what was inside the big box – strawberry jelly with frogs and snakes! We used our nose to smell the strawberry jelly as the lid came off, we used our hands to feel the jelly squash through our fingers as we grabbed the snakes and frogs, and of course we had to use our tongue to have a taste! Yummy!
We also enjoyed a sensory communication group trying different tastes and smells. We used vocalisations and gestures to tell our teachers if we liked it or not, the honey was our favourite!
As part of our outdoor learning this week we took a step outside to enjoy and experience the wind, using ribbons; feeling the wind on our bodies and being under the parachute while it was waved up and down, fast and slow in time to music. Hopefully you can see how much we all enjoyed this session from the smiles on our faces, eyes open, arms and fingers moving towards the parachute and ribbons.
Already we can see potential friendships blossoming. Happy Friday friends.Ā We have had a very busy third week!Ā Staff and children have merged as a team, beautifully.
As a school we have a wonderful outdoor learning curriculum, filled with exciting opportunities to learn using the wealth of outdoor spaces we have to access.Ā Our class learn outdoors everyday, come rain or shine.Ā We have waterproof clothing and footwear for every child in class, to allow children to learn outdoors despite the unpredictable British weather.
This week has been no different.Ā Here are some photos of our children using the internal quad to work on their PLP (personal learning plan) outcomes.
Lots of our children are very motivated by water play.Ā These are golden opportunities to support great communication.Ā This week we worked on communication targets using the water play environment to encourage children to make requests.Ā Here are some photos of our fun times learning using waterā¦.
Our class follow a very physical, therapeutic and sensory curriculum.Ā Rebound Therapy is a weekly session which our class LOVE.Ā We follow a structure every week to encourage a range of movements from each child.Ā We use music as a cue to follow a routine in which we balance, crawl, walk, climb and stand using the trampoline as a base to challenge each child.Ā Lots of children need these sessions to expend some energy while others use the movement of the bed to enjoy deeper stretches and more stimulating position work.Ā We are very lucky to have our own bespoke Rebound Therapy Centre.
Already we can see potential friendships blossoming…..
Have a wonderful weekend.Ā We look forward to another fun filled week next week.
Hello everyone and happy Friday!
This week we went the Sir Charles Parsons and kicked off our weekly swimming lessons. It was great fun! We focused on getting used to the pool again, walking from one side to the other and we managed to put our heads under the water. Once we had done all our hard work, we then got loads of toys out and had a great play in the pool. We cannot wait to go back again next week and learn some new skills.
This week in English we have started a new book called ‘The tell me tree’. We have been talking about how we are feeling and even went outside to find our own tree to talk to about how we are feeling.
On Tuesday Katy, from Fun little foodies, joined us again. This week we yet again listened carefully to Katy’s instructions and we made our own blackberry Flapjack. This then linked in very nicely with Wednesday’s lesson. We found out where ourĀ food comes from. We knew that eggs come from chickens, chips come from potatoes and we even learnt that bread is made from wheat. Once we had done our matching activity, we then went out for a walk around the school and picked some apples and blackberries of our own.
Unfortunately, this week we were unable to go Horse riding, however we still had a great afternoon! Instead we had a relaxing movie afternoon and had some sweet treats.
We cannot wait for another fun filled week at school next week and we hope you have an amazing weekend!
Wow what a fantastic week in class, the children have amazed us with their focus and theĀ great work they have produced.
We have worked on recognising numerals, ordering numbers and counting amounts. We have also been practicing using tens frames, some of us have even been counting all the way to twenty!
We began our new story ‘the dot’, which is a lovely story of a little girl who is feeling sad and frustrated that she just can’t paint or draw. Until her teacher encourages her to make a mark on the paper and this begins her journey into discovering that she can make beautiful art with just DOTS. This taught us that you can do anything that you set your mind to. It is about having confidence to believe in yourself and encouraging and nurturing others.
As well as painting lots of dots for our new display, we have talked lots about our emotions and what things might make us feel happy, sad or angry.
This week we were very lucky to have Katy from ‘Fun Little Foodies’ to help with our food tech session. She will be working with us for the next few weeks, how exciting ! This week the children made quiche independently and have learnt that eggs come from chickens. They cracked eggs, cut veg and whisked eggs all by themselves. They then all had a try of their creations! Yum yum yum!! Katy also added a bit of arts and craft and the childrenĀ made their own chicken collages.
We had another successful trip out horse-riding, the weather was so nice we had a trek around the grounds at Pegasus stables and even stepped over jumps! Amazing for week two.
Then a nice snack in the sun before we headed back to school.
Have a great weekend, stay safe.
Dear Parents/Carers
We have had a fantastic week. We have started our football sessions with Graeme on a Monday lunchtime which the children love. Unfortunately we were unable to go swimming on Tuesday due to issues outside of our control but we are hoping we can next week I will let you know on Monday if we are going. Wednesday we had our first group music therapy session with Tom. Today we were also very lucky to go to the assembly in person and Mr Rollingās was so impressed with the class all of the children received a medal. The school photographer will be in school Monday and on Tuesday afternoon we are excited to join a concert in school in the afternoon.
Thank you
